MICHAEL M CLEMENTS is a writer, artist, entrepreneur, poet, performer, and producer whose creative journey has spanned continents and media. Born and raised in the U.S., he developed a passion for world cultures, the arts, and the stage at an early age. He earned a B.S. in Communication from Florida State University and an M.A. in International Communication from American University’s School of International Service (SIS), where he also minored in Cultural Anthropology. His thesis film on Barbados’ Crop Over Festival is archived at the Smithsonian Institution.

Michael spent seven years living and working in Japan and Hong Kong, where he served as a consultant, editor, actor, and artist. His screen appearances include roles in Hong Kong and the U.S. On stage, he performed in the Asian debut of Glengarry Glen Ross, in Los Angeles sketch comedy, and with The Picnic Theatre Company in Washington, D.C. As a visual artist, he has exhibited his outsider art in both Asia and the U.S. In publishing, Michael served as Editor-in-Chief of Capitol File magazine and Executive Editor of Washington Life, was a member of the White House Correspondents’ Association, is the author of The Bali Paradigm and Liberty Abroad!, and has been published worldwide across newspapers, magazines, and literary journals. He is the Editor-in-Chief of luxury travel portal The Creatively Inclined Wanderer.

He is the founder of Genki Media LLC, PT Creative Leisure Group, and ArtJamz LLC — the latter of which he successfully sold and exited in 2023. Outside of his creative work, he enjoys traveling, matcha lattes, and spending time with family and friends. He currently lives in Bali with his wife and son.
His most Gen X moment? Spraining his ankle in a mosh pit during Nirvana’s In Utero tour, but never mind — that’s a different story.
